There are a lot of options when it comes to living a greener lifestyle. Some people like the convenience of being able to purchase ready to go cleaner/natural products and some people love a good DIY. I compiled a list of some of the top things you can make or buy below. I’ve already made the make-up remover rounds and next on my DIY list is facial spray. I hope you find something here that can help you transition to a greener lifestyle! Remember, it’s not about doing everything at once–small steps can help you have the most lasting impact.
I haven’t purchased any of the below recommendations, unless noted, so I can’t personally speak to quality. Many of them are products that have been on my ‘eco wishlist’ so I’ve seen them circulating for awhile and have read product reviews. Without further ado, click through to see what to add to your weekend DIY list!

One of the most overwhelming about learning a new skill can be the language. Have you ever tried to learn a new hobby like rock climbing or knitting and had to pause to figure out what ‘bight’ or ‘purl’ even mean?
Learning how to be more environmentally friendly is a similar process. There are a lot of words and phrases that are tossed around and occasionally even used interchangeably. The minutiae of a definition can vary from brand, but I’m going to give you ten terms that can serve as a basis for building your library.

This week I (re)discovered the glory that is Manu Bennett in the show Spartacus. It was, in a word, excellent. After a somewhat lethargic start to the work I finally got my butt in gear and ended it by making one pair of pants, almost finishing a pair of shorts and finishing a book. Chances are you’ve heard words like ‘green’, ‘sustainable’ and ‘eco-friendly’ thrown around lately. You probably already recycle, but you’re interested in making some more easy switches to help the planet. There’s a lot of information floating around, some not entirely accurate, and it can feel overwhelming on knowing where to start. The truth is, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. I’m hoping to break down several small changes you could make–this week even!–and then also mention a few more that I plan to make in the future.
It’s true that 90 companies are responsible for two thirds of the earth’s negative climate change due to their carbon emissions. Ninety. Each individual action adds up, but we must also hold these companies accountable. There is something to be said for these corporations pushing their consumers to recycle or use reusable straws while also not holing themselves to standards that could vastly impact our environment.
Even still, when we take the time to educate ourselves and make changes we’re better able to recognize the greater changes that need to happen. We all have to start some where. Let’s start here. Continue reading “5 EASY ECO SWITCHES | +5 I plan to make!”
Short and sweet today, because for some inexplicable reason I was up until the sun came up this morning. Insomnia hit me like a freight train and I had to head to Pasadena this morning to meet a friend so I’m running on three hours of sleep, half an iced mocha and a lot of SVU episode reruns. So glad I had that praise break earlier in the week, because I couldn’t tell you what I accomplished without it!
