How are you getting by in this heat? The summer is zooming by and I hope you’re taking some time to do some fun things–weekend trips, outdoor movies, lots of slushies–the whole nine yards. It. Is. Hot!!! I’m currently melting in very sunny Los Angeles and sweet baby Jesus in the manger I need a Slurpee that’s bigger than my head. (I think 7-11 has that size, right?) Several months ago (I know…I’m a little behind the ball) some of my favorite people were in LA for a mini vacation. We decided to check out Joshua Tree for the first time as a short excursion. A couple of days ago I quietly took another turn around the sun. In a lot of ways birthdays are like a ‘reset’ or New Year’s Eve–minus the celebrities in shiny dresses freezing in Times Square without their tea. I want to be more intentional about the way I enter into my late twenties and early thirties, to shake off that wide-eyed what am I doing with my life kind of feeling. I’m not 100% sure it’s possible to shake off, to be honest. I think it may just be a side effect of being alive.
I figured a few affirmations couldn’t hurt–am I becoming that LA person??–and so I pulled together and wrote 28 affirmations for 28. Many of them are from Louise Hay who seems to be the mother of affirmations in the modern age. You don’t have to be 28 to use them and if you find something in the list that resonates with you then you should write it down and post it somewhere you’ll see it daily. After all, we’re hurtling through space on a (relatively) small sphere that’s be around longer than we can ever conceive of, what’s the harm in believing in good vibes?
