LA week 10 | it’s the climb

california dreaming

Week 10 followed the formula of many of the weeks prior. Alyssa came into town for the weekend and we had a relaxing and fun weekend planned. Saturday we went hiking at Runyon Canyon as she had never been before. We were choosing between lazing around the beach and going on a hike and the hike won out! We fueled up at a restaurant called ‘Eat This’, which was absolutely delicious. Nothing like getting ready for a hike in the heat with a huge breakfast burger, mimosa and cinnamon rolls! We celebrated our great choice with frozen yogurt from Yogurtland, as all smart people should. Post hike I had an incredible amount of energy so after we came back to my apartment I did a quick HIIT work out in my living room. Endorphins, yes please…

runyon canyon_lyss and meSunday morning we went to church first thing before heading over to Silverlake for brunch before we saw Wonder Woman for the second time. We chose Millie’s because it was close to the theater and we had eaten there before and enjoyed the food. Even though Wonder Woman had been out for several weeks the line outside the theater was still pretty impressive. Although I’d already seen it once I still walked out of the theater amped up and ready to enroll in sword wielding lessons. I need to get some essentials from Target so Alyssa agreed to take me and on the way we saw a really cool mural. I love that you never know what’s just around the corner. We ate incredible dim sum at Bao before she got on the road to head back to SD.

lyss and meOver the weekend I had received news that a friend of mine had passed away. He was in his 80s and had the vitality and rock n’ roll spirit of someone decades younger. His family had a going home celebration at the beach and I was able to ride along with a couple of friends. We had byChloe for dinner and heard from his family and mingled with other people there to honor the well lived life of an amazing man.

The rest of the week was-you guessed it!-job searching and getting back into the swing of working out regularly.
