For the last five years living in New York City I’ve looked forward to Thursday because it meant creative team night at my church. This was a night that everyone who served on creative teams (everything from musicians and vocalists to writers and graphic designers) got together to worship, hear from a creative leader in our church and learn more about our teams. There is something electric about being in a room full of people volunteering their time to be creative-it’s like the ideas are popping like fresh kernels on the stove.
But all too often I’ve found myself experiencing creator’s block where all of a sudden I have no great ideas, don’t know what I want to make, or can’t get started. Although I no longer live in NYC, it is Thursday so I thought it may be appropriate to share some ideas on how to overcome creator’s block and how I get the ideas flowing again! Week 10 followed the formula of many of the weeks prior. Alyssa came into town for the weekend and we had a relaxing and fun weekend planned. Saturday we went hiking at Runyon Canyon as she had never been before. We were choosing between lazing around the beach and going on a hike and the hike won out! We fueled up at a restaurant called ‘Eat This’, which was absolutely delicious. Nothing like getting ready for a hike in the heat with a huge breakfast burger, mimosa and cinnamon rolls! Endorphins, yes please… Continue reading “LA week 10 | it’s the climb”

Today’s post is a collaboration with my friend Faith who has been my work out buddy over the last couple of years while I lived in New York. She recently received her NASM certification AND launched a fitness Instagram (@thesweatycoconut) so I figured she’d be the perfect person to help get people excited!
Read on to stop torturing yourself for a ‘summer body’ (spoiler: you already have it!) and to start enjoying working out!

One of my favorite movies growing up was Twister. You know the one, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, excellent CGI and flying cows. I still love that movie, and one of the things on my bucket list is to spend several weeks one summer tornado chasing. If you’re looking at your screen like I’m crazy, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. I didn’t even mention the fact that at one point in my life it was my ideal honeymoon. My new hubby (Lord, send him! ha!), me and tornados sounded like romance as far as I was concerned. I’ve since amended that idea, but only because I don’t want to be caught up in a honeymoon while chasing after tornados. I want to give those tornados my full and undivided attention.
